Come for Christmas

18 Oct

Hi Family and Dear Friends –

This is your official invite to come visit us in Positano for Christmas. We have taken our bags off the boat, canceled our remaining nights aboard, and rented a villa for a year. I am not sorry to say we will not be coming home, this place is everything I dreamed it would be and so much more.

The photos do not do it justice, but hopefully when you come visit you can get your own.

Ups and Downs

15 Oct

When I say ups and downs I mean that both literally as well as figuratively. Literally, yesterday was all up and downs on the rough seas. My “day at sea” began with sleeping in, a wonderful breakfast and expresso on our balcony with the hubs watching Albania sail by, and an amazing massage at Canyon Ranch Spa {ups}! And ended with me getting sea sick for what seemed like hours {don’t worry..no pics of that}.

Thank goodness we are in port today!! Greece is dumping rain, but everyone wanted off the boat bad enough to brave it. So here we are, all stomping around the huge puddles of Corfu with our Oceania umbrellas — wishing the sun was out. The thunder is rolling in as we sit in a coffee shop above old Corfu. I am really, really hoping I can get out the camera at some point and snap some photos of this ancient stone city. It sits atop a hill on the edge of the sea and the bright blue water is absolute perfection, even with the rain.

Well, we better venture out. Hopefully I’ll be able to to take some photos of this old fortress! Wish us luck!

Old Walled City

14 Oct

This morning we were awoken around 4:30 to violent shaking in our room, we didn’t know if it was rough seas on the Adriatic or a Captain with too much vino…{I kid}. At breakfast it became apparent that we were not the only ones awoken by the choppy seas.

Sadly the seas had not calmed by breakfast and I had to do some laps around the boat to calm my tummy. The wind was crazy, but it helped keep my mind off the rolling seas.
We made it into Dubrovnik, walked the old wall which is built right on the ocean, had wine by the harbor, and enjoyed the sunny afternoon!

As we were finishing up our wine, thunder started rolling in. As we sit here now I am listening to the loudest thunder I have ever heard, watching the streets flood at warped speed, and hail rain down on this tiny town. There is no going anywhere anytime soon. I just hope we can make it back before the boat leaves…

UPDATE: It is now Friday morning here and we made it to the boat! The storm cleared after about 45 minutes, we rolled up our pants and dodged huge puddles. Upon arrving at the boat we were one of the few who wasn’t soaking from head to toe. Thankfully, I had been busy blogging and drinking wine instead of out wandering around or we would have been soaked as well. I guess the one afternoon shower wasn’t the only one. Turns out when we went to bed at midnight the boat still hadn’t sailed, we called downstairs and they said it would still arrive as planned in Montenegro in the morning. Well, we awoke at 4am, opened our slider and what do you know….still in Croatia…at the dock. The dock had been closed by the Port Authority due to the high winds {which were really high} and wasn’t scheduled to open again until tonight at 5pm. Boo. I guess things change quick on the boat becuase by 10 am we were on our way out to sea with the sun shining down :)

So sadly no Montenegro for us, but instead we will see it and Albania from the boat. BUT on the bright side, I have a massage booked for this afternoon! Woohoo. Toodles.
