Remnants of Spring

16 May

I know I have been MIA the last couple of weeks and for that I apologize, I really do. I swear I have a good reason and I promise to share more soon. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite things I have loved about Spring. And this Summer, I promise to be around more.

Love Is In the Air

12 Feb

Well I have put my distaste for Valentine’s Day aside and sent out of few cards and gifts, have heart shaped cookies baking right now in the oven, and got a couple cutesy things for around the house. See mom, all your holiday fun when I was a kid paid off. I wonder how the Hubby would feel about pink pancakes…

I might even wear pink or red on Tuesday! What a change!

Rain + Me Time

10 Jan

I have really been looking forward to my trip to Seattle and it finally arrived this week. I was so excited to explore the city and get some time for just me. I have always loved my time alone and being married and having a dog allows me pretty much zero time to myself. I don’t know what I would do if I had a kid or kids…the thought alone is scary. So as I got off the plane yesterday and able to only worry about my own luggage, take as long as I wanted getting a cab, leave my hotel room as clean or messy as I wanted, and take my time shopping on 5th Avenue, I have been in {my own} heaven.

I absolutely LOVE Seattle.

My favorite things:

Rain

Lighted trees

Old buildings + New buildings

Its like the whole city has a designer

Lovely store windows

Musicians on the streets

Coffee on every corner {and in between}

Walking everywhere

Bundling up

Art galleries {tons of them}

Just a tiny peek into all that I am loving…in between my training sessions. {the not so wonderful part of the trip}

Flowers, Sisters + Vows

30 Dec

Wedding Day finally arrived!

After months of planning {not my responsibility, thankfully} it all came together in a beautiful, fun, memorable evening. The morning began at my mom’s with my sisters and friend Rachie, she did our hair, we did our makeup, got all dressed, and headed to La Jolla! As with every wedding, the moment we got there it all flew by much too quickly. Dress, photos, smiles, feet hurting from the huge heels, more pictures, champagne, almost time….a little dance off in the bride’s room…and then we are off. Our tiny dresses got a little chilly as the fog rolled in about half way through the ceremony, but with all the emotions and special moments we hardly noticed.

And the party commenced! I did some running around taking photos, saying my hellos, and enjoying the wedding vibe. I love the wedding vibe!

{my love bug}

As always the night ended so fast, and too soon!

All my love and congrats to my brother and new sister!

Sparklers + Kisses

28 Dec

New Year’s Eve always brings so much pressure! Find the right party, wear the right clothes, take the right pictures. So much to do. I had originally planned to spend a snowy weekend in moutains of Big Bear with some friends but unfortunately our plans have fallen through and I again find myself on a mission for the perfect plans. No more low key sweats and games…I’m a bit bummed. In light of my new {yet to me determined} plans I have made myself a New Year’s Eve checklist. What are you must-do’s for New Years?

  1. Wear sparkles
  2. Spend the night with people I love
  3. Smokey eyes
  4. Sky high heels
  5. Watch the ball drop + kiss my man
  6. And just for fun go to bed with my hair still all done!

Christmas Morning + the Last of 4

27 Dec

With all the running around we have done the last few days, it seems as if Christmas morning snuck up on us. We woke up, walked to get a coffee, and headed to my mom’s for Brunch. As if to finish off the holiday in sync we forgot something, just like we had at every gathering so far….eessh…better plan more next year. The morning was filled with laughter, weapons, gifts, and fun. In what seemed like no time at all I was exhausted and we headed for home. Almost immediately I fell asleep for 3 hours. After my nap we headed out for a romantic Christmas dinner, just us two. A perfect 4th Christmas. I know through the years things will change, but for now, as it is only us two, I love our times doing the untraditional and maybe making our own traditions.

Highlights of Christmas Brunch:

  • Cream chipped beef
  • Hunting bow and arrow target pratice
  • Wedding gift opening mingled in with the Christmas ones {which we otherwise wouldn’t see opened}
  • Handmade stockings with goodies inside
  • My new cooling racks for baking
  • Searching high and low and never finding an arrow that flew so fast no one saw where it went

I only have this from our Christmas Dinner date aka Christmas 4, next year I will remember to take more photos.

Until next year! Hope you had a marvelous Christmas as well!

Days of Thanks

15 Dec

Around the first of November I had many friends on facebook and blogs I read begin their November “Days of Thanksgiving”. For every day of the month they posted one thing they were thankful for, I thought this was a great idea, and started my own. A couple days into it I realized most of my days were about my hubs. After the month was finished I realized my list making of “thankfulness” wasn’t really about Thanksgiving for me, as it was more of a wonderful reminder of how lucky I am to have my husband. It has almost been five years since we started dating and this exercise was the perfect reminder of why I fell so madly in love with him in the first place. So here it is, a couple weeks late, but all the things that make me love and hopefully never take for granted my best friend.

  1. Gets up early 99% of the time to take our hairy beast of a dog for a morning walk
  2. Makes me dinner almost every night…and amazing dinners at that! He is my own personal chef!
  3. Loves running errands with me just to spend time together
  4. Doesn’t mind my frivolous girly things
  5. Takes a walk with me every night to talk about our days
  6. Puts up with my family…the good and the not so good
  7. Since I got my new job every Friday I come home to a clean home!
  8. Works so hard to build a future for us
  9. Planner of the Century Award. Although my quick decisiveness is annoyed at times it always works out to our benefit when he plans
  10. Loves taking me to nice dinners
  11. Knows just how to calm me down when I get crazy
  12. Allows me to leave my clothes in giant piles all over the bedroom until Friday when he folds them all
  13. He is a saver and encourages me to do the same
  14. Texts me all throughout the day, even if its just to say I love you
  15. Watches chick flicks with me with just a tad of complaining
  16. Wrestles our dog till we are all laughing
  17. He is so smart and always wanting to learn
  18. Makes me coffee in the middle of the day
  19. He is a self teacher and such the handyman
  20. Loves his own family so much, and mine too
  21. Pretends to not like babies so our families don’t ask me when we will have one..uhoh secret is out.
  22. He lets me vent and complain
  23. Wants to explore new things together
  24. He is SO patient
  25. Super sexy. Especially running around the house in his bday suit..hehe. He is gonna kill me for writing that.
  26. Doesn’t stay mad and forgives easily.
  27. Asks me to cut his hair.
  28. Wants the best for us and is always striving for more.
  29. Gives the best backrubs
  30. And lastly, after a few drinks has the best dance move (yes only one) that makes me laugh every time!

Some days are easier than others, but in light of being honest, relationships are hard work and keeping a list of all the amazing things is a wonderful reminder of all the love and happiness we bring each other! And a huge thank you to my hubs for putting up with me. You are one of a kind.

Summer Love

9 Aug

Summer weddings are the best! The warm nights and long days make for the perfect setting. This weekend was my brother’s best friend (so I call him my brother) and his beautiful fiance’s wedding. Prior to my own wedding I didn’t really care too much about weddings and all the craziness that goes into them. But now that I have had one, I can’t help but notice all the details. The  bride had recently started her own wedding planning business, Evelyn Francesca Design, and I was really looking forward to seeing how it all came together. And wow, did it all come together.

*photo property of Allie Lindsey photography

The wedding took place at the groom’s grandmother’s private estate in Rancho Santa Fe, Ca and it was stunning. The property was meticulously kept and was the perfect amount of space for all the wedding necessities. The ceremony site, dinner tables, two buffet stations, a bar, an awesome photo booth, lounge area, huge dance floor, and even a pool for the late night swim quite a few people took. Oh and it even had stables and horses!

The night was full of celebration; i.e. drinking, dancing, and catching up with old and new friends.

The photo booth was the best I have ever seen, complete with tons of props and large enough to fit pretty much anyone wanting to join in the fun! Talia Studio was so fun and I wish I would have thought of them for my wedding!

And this is what the end of the night looked like. PRICELESS.

Congrats Aaron & Evelyn. Wishing you a lifetime of love.
