Fashionable Friday – The Jean Jacket

16 Jun

I know, I know it’s not Friday. I am only a day late, so I am posting it anyways.

Jean on top in an outfit has always seemed to be a risky move to me. That fine line between looking too 80′s or too farmer’s daughter is crossed far too often.

Yet I seem to be finding myself in a bit of a bind lately, I don’t look pregnant yet, but I also don’t have my flat tummy anymore. This unknown territory leaves me wanting to cover my midsection or at least distract from it. Being that it is Summer that doesn’t seem to be working out so well for me. Hence the search for anything that is relatively inexpensive and easily adaptable across my now changing wardrobe.

The jean jacket seems to be the perfect piece to throw over shorts, a dress, or a skirt and loose top. It pulls it all together while hugging the parts I don’t mind being hugged right now, my waist and arms. I love that I can wear it open or closed and that it goes with pretty much every color.

Here are some favorites I have found:

Remnants of Spring

16 May

I know I have been MIA the last couple of weeks and for that I apologize, I really do. I swear I have a good reason and I promise to share more soon. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite things I have loved about Spring. And this Summer, I promise to be around more.

Fashionable Friday – Stripes For Every Occasion

23 Mar

My post from Glamonomics this week!

One of the things I find toughest about keeping up with the latest fashions is feeling like I always need to be shopping. Ok the shopping itself isn’t so tough, but the money part, eh, it may put a damper of just how much shopping I would like to be doing. My goal is to find pieces I can wear as many ways as possible, dress it up with a work skirt, down with some jeans and boots or just to putz around the house in.

This shirt from Forever 21 is one of my go-tos. I have it in three colors and find it goes with so much! Do you have a favorite easy to wear piece?

Coral Come-ons

19 Mar

The weather here this weekend was so unusual. The dumping rain, strong winds, and hail made for lots of indoor time. I did a bit of baking for my sweet nephews dedication, a little laundry, and not nearly enough cleaning. What is it about awful weather that makes me want to sleep and cuddle all day long?

In an effort to get my mind into a more motiovated frame I am trying my best to think of the warm sun, a refreshing vodka type beverage and of course a summery outfit.

Here’s to hoping Monday morning isn’t as dreadful as I’m feeling it may be.

Come on Monday! Let’s make it a good one.

Fashionable Friday – Wedge Obsession

16 Mar

Oh my goodness, this week has been craziness all over the place! Totally last minute, literally 45 minutes until Friday is over…but here it is Fashionable Friday. I am so obsessed with wedges right now. I was planing to wear my new wedges this weekend, but what do you know, the weather is bleak. Here are some of my favorites as posted on my Glamonomics style post!

Do you have a favorite wedge?

Fashionable Friday + Color Blocking Fun

9 Mar

I know that Fashionable Friday only lasted one lousy week {sad I know}, but with my new work with Glamonomics, mentioned here, I decided to bring it back. So here it is, Fashionable Friday.

Color blocking scares me. The bright colors and striking “notice me pattern” can be a bit overwhelming for my taste. Despite my apprehension I have been loving them lately. I even went out on a limb and today bought quite a few pieces to mix into my wardrobe. I am planning to start with the office, where oddly enough, I feel it is the perfect avenue for trying new styles. I am starting slowly with blue and greens.

Are you brave enough to try color blocking? Which colors are you drawn to? Wish me luck.

Spring in My Step

5 Mar

I have a spring in my step. It might be the warm air this weekend, the trips I have to look forward to this month, or it could be my exciting blogging news! I have been asked to be one of four style bloggers for a Northern California style and glamour blog, Glamonomics. I will be posting once a week with a fashion post about my personal style. I am so honored to be the classy/causal stylist!

I will also be posting them here, or you can check them out on Glamonomics, here! So here is last week’s post.

Breaking Into Spring

As Winter is nearing its end and glimpses of Spring are being seen here in Southern Cali, I cannot help but look forward to the Spring. I seem to be stuck in a limbo, still loving the dark tones of winter, but ready to show some skin.

I am always drawn to dark colors and have to force myself to lighten things up in the warmer months. Hopefully these adorable leg showing, arm flaunting pieces will get you excited for the upcoming weather!

And that is my excitement for the day, dreaming of shoes…

ASOS, J Crew, Yoox, Saks, Zara,

Orange + Vodka-sicles

18 Feb

Living in Southern California I know I have nothing to complain about during the winter, but for some reason this year I am really looking forward to Spring! I am simple loving the pops of color I am seeing everywhere, so rare for this girl who loves black. I figured these gray days could use a little color and today orange has caught my eye. I wanna throw on this adorable orange lingerie, a white sun dress, bike down the Coast and pick flowers. Hmmm sounds like a cheesy movie. A girl can dream, right?

Although the biking/flower picking bit might be too much, I will be making those vodka popsicles the second this weather warms up  a bit! Do you have any must-do plans for some warmer weather?
