Addendum – The Good Kind

30 Mar

Being in Contracts when I hear the word Addendum it means more work for me. This Addendum was anything but work, so I am taking this moment of relaxing in the most perfect little inn to blog about our lunch at Thomas Keller’s Addendum.

Addendum is situated behind AdHoc (another of Thomas Keller’s restuarants-which we ate at last time we were in Napa), is only open for lunch and is only open a couple months a year! Guess what? It opened last week! Ah the timing could not have been more perfect.

The outdoor seating, tiny shack where the orders are places, vegetables growing around you and then the delicious food — I could almost feel the stars aligning. I wish my pictures of the chicken were better because it was, without fail, the best fried chicken I have ever eaten in my entire life. Perfectly crispy and salty, yet so juicy on the inside the juice literally dripped out. Oh my goodness, I want to walk back right now. Did I mention it is walking distance from the Vintage Inn where we are staying? Dangerous.

Of course a salty crunchy lunch had to be completed by a Bouchon hoho. If you head to Napa you must stop by Addendum, it is well worth the $50+ price tag for a picnic lunch! Maybe someday for some super special occasion we will have to try the French Laundry, since his “normal” restaurants are so amazing I cannot even imagine the decadence to be had there! A girl can dream, right?

*I should note that after posting this, the hubby told me I needed to mention that the friend chicken does come with two sides. I didn’t mention the sides being that potato salad and collard greens aren’t my thing {they were good though-just no where near the chicken goodness}.

Napa Here We Come

29 Mar

I may be running a bit behind on my posts for the rest of the week as the hubby and I are jetting off the Napa for the weekend! It has been a couple years since we have been and I am so excited to be heading back. We are staying at this amazing little inn, have reservations at some very exciting restaurants, and will be wine tasting and cuddling by the fire in our room. I may try to get some posts in, but we shall see! Tata for now! Enjoy your weekend and thank you Cesar Chavez for the extra day off and the opportunity to celebrate my birthday Napa style!

Mini Apple Crisps

27 Mar

Ever since my Nana taught me how to make her delicious apple pies, I have been loving making apple pies of any sorts. So I decided to make some individual apple crisps in honor of my sweet baby nephew’s dedication! I followed this recipe and tweaked it a bit to make little baby ones. They were perfect for an after dinner treat.

The Goods:

{Filling}

  • 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, chopped small
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
{Topping}
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons chilled butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
Do It:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Mix all the ingredients together. Place into 7 to 8-ounce ramekins.

3. Mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in large bowl. Blend the butter into the mixture until it forms pea size lumps. Stir in pecans and sprinkle over filling.

4. Bake crisps for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before serving.

Easy peasy. And now I just need some vanilla ice cream. Delicious!

Over the Mountains

25 Mar

My weekend was spent in Palm Springs with my mom, my brother and his girlfriend. We spent the days sun bathing, floating around the lazy river, shopping, and hanging out. We played hours of rummy and enjoyed every moment of it! So much that I forgot to take any photos except on my drive out over the mountains.

On to another week!

Fashionable Friday – Stripes For Every Occasion

23 Mar

My post from Glamonomics this week!

One of the things I find toughest about keeping up with the latest fashions is feeling like I always need to be shopping. Ok the shopping itself isn’t so tough, but the money part, eh, it may put a damper of just how much shopping I would like to be doing. My goal is to find pieces I can wear as many ways as possible, dress it up with a work skirt, down with some jeans and boots or just to putz around the house in.

This shirt from Forever 21 is one of my go-tos. I have it in three colors and find it goes with so much! Do you have a favorite easy to wear piece?

What the French, Toast!

21 Mar

I couldn’t stop thinking about French Toast this weekend. I finally gave in and got the goods. Boy was it delicious. At first I had wanted to go crazy with it and do nutella stuffed with whipped cream and berries, but I went with the ole’ tried and true simple way. I was not disappointed.

Nothing special – just some country bread, cinnamon, cream, an egg, powdered sugar and maple syrup. Perfection.

Yea, it made a pretty good dinner since my dinner maker {the hubs} is sick with the stomach flu.

Coral Come-ons

19 Mar

The weather here this weekend was so unusual. The dumping rain, strong winds, and hail made for lots of indoor time. I did a bit of baking for my sweet nephews dedication, a little laundry, and not nearly enough cleaning. What is it about awful weather that makes me want to sleep and cuddle all day long?

In an effort to get my mind into a more motiovated frame I am trying my best to think of the warm sun, a refreshing vodka type beverage and of course a summery outfit.

Here’s to hoping Monday morning isn’t as dreadful as I’m feeling it may be.

Come on Monday! Let’s make it a good one.

Fashionable Friday – Wedge Obsession

16 Mar

Oh my goodness, this week has been craziness all over the place! Totally last minute, literally 45 minutes until Friday is over…but here it is Fashionable Friday. I am so obsessed with wedges right now. I was planing to wear my new wedges this weekend, but what do you know, the weather is bleak. Here are some of my favorites as posted on my Glamonomics style post!

Do you have a favorite wedge?
