What’s On The Menu?

1 Jul

Sunday mornings are a treat for the hubby and I. We get up, take the dog for a walk, have some coffee and head out to Henry’s for our weekly grocery shopping. I don’t know why, but we both love it. We look forward to perusing the aisles, deciding what we will eat over the next week, and finding new yummy veggies to try (like this here). Growing up I was never an adventurous eater, so thankfully my husband has shown me the amazingness that new things can bring.

The problem with our grocery shopping is we go sans a list. Yea we wing it. Sometimes it works in our favor, and other times it does not. After seeing this on Pinterest I decided I needed one in my kitchen. Even though we can handle the no list thing at the store, typically by Wednesday we have forgotten what we were planning on making and therefore end up with veggies and such that have gone bad come Saturday. So with our new menu list we can make an effort to stay more organized!

I went to Home Depot (of course with my puppy — cause it’s his favorite place!) and bought some chalkboard paint in Moonstone gray and two of the adorable mini Martha Stewart tester paints in Ballet Slipper Pink and Persimmon Red. Armed with my paint, I jumped right in. I taped out the lines on my wall and started painting the chalkboard section. The circles are much harder than you would imagine and if I did it again, I would figure out another way to get them painted. I stamped the letters on with scrapbook stamps (also didn’t work so well). And in the end wasn’t super impressed with my menu, but hey, it’ll do the trick and is keeping us more organized.

It still needs some work — a border and somewhere other than hanging twine for the chalk. Works for now though!
